The PDP Campaign Council in Bayelsa State has condemned the Thursday attack on members and supporters of the Party in the Nembe community by thugs suspected to be loyal to the opposition All Progressive Congress (APC).

The Campaign council of the party, in a statement through its spokesman, Dr. Jonathan Obuebite, in Yenagoa, on Friday, warned that the recent attack upon its members, should be the last that will be carried out by the APC in the state.

Obuebite, in his statement said that members and supporters of the PDP who were on their way to the campaign rallies of the party in Akassa, Okpoama and Twon-Brass, had driven into Igopiri community, instead of Nembe city to board their boats, and were immediately ambushed by APC youths.

According the him, the party faithfuls were wounded and also robbed of some Properties in their possession.

The campaign spokesman noted that the PDP has in the last few weeks suffered all kinds of politically motivated attacks from the APC with some of its members still lying critically ill.

He therefore called on leaders of the APC to call their members to order and make them stay on the path of peace, otherwise the PDP will not fail to defend its members going forward.

He warned that no party will have the opportunity to carry out campaigns freely, if steps are not taken to curb further attacks.
