The National Council of State has on Tuesday agreed that N27000 will be the new minimum wage paid for states and private sectors and as well, #30,000 for federal Government workers. This was disclosed in a meeting on Tuesday by President Mohammadu Buhari.

According to the minister of Labour , Chris Ngige, the council also approved freqency of review of five years for the minimum wage.

It also approved exemptions for the establishments that are not employing up to 25 persons.

The minister also said that the minimum wage bill will be transmitted to the national Assembly before the work close on Wednesday as agreed by the organised labour, assuring that despite the announcement by the National Assembly to proceed on recess until the end of the election whereby the concerned committees in the National Assembly will continue work on the bill.
