The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has yesterday reached an agreement with the federal government over the ongoing industrial action by the various Universities affected in the country. The agreement was reached based on the hope of possibly ending the prolonged strike in the universities affected.
This was stated by the national president of the Academic Staff Union of Universities(Asuu), professor Abiodun Ogunyemi, who stated that the national executive committee of the Union will recheck it’s decisions based on the commitment of the federal government.
He also noted that the strike being embarked upon, could only be stopped, depending on the outcome of the NEC meeting.
Professor Ogunyemi furthermore says ” In view of this , government has promised to reach us as soon as possible with a written proposal on those areas we need further consultations. And when we receive that, we shall treat accordingly and get back to the appropriate quarters” he said.
It has earlier on been said that the lectures have embarked on the ongoing strike since November 4 2018 so as to press for their demands by the federal government.
